This 250r has been running around town for years. The original owner here in town had the engine sent to ESR I think and had it completely rebuilt with matching pipe. It ran really good. He sold it to another guy and he road it very little he has been trying to sell it forever but always wanted $3,000. He told me $2,000 a few months ago. I called him tonight and found out he was going to sell it for $1,500 to some guy. The guy was test riding it and blew it up. I have no clue what is wrong with it other then it won't kick over and he said the guy held it wide open for way to long.
As I was talking to him, I asked him what he wanted for it. He wouldn't say he told me to make an offer. I didn't want to do that, but I was thinking $1,000. I said surely you have an idea of what you want, he said how does $500 sound, I him hauled around for a bit and told him I would take it. I was thinking I would have to pay more for it.
So now I have 2 projects to get running before riding season. This purchase makes me happy, I have the 2 machines that I was wanting to own. Biggest problem is now making room in the garage and telling the wife.

Here it is, it has a trx 11 pipe full drag pipe I think. It use to look lots better, it has been outside for quite awhile now. I don't really care for the welded on homeade nerf bars, it also needs a seat cover. Rear shock seems a little spongy. I think I will get it running or at least see whats wrong with it then tear it completly down, clean up the frame and do a ground up, all before Aprils ride and get the other R running also.

Those nerf bars are beautiful!! The guy who made those needs to start up a business of making them.
WTF? Those woulda been hacked off before I even loaded it up if I bought that thing. I guess its kinda fitting.. I mean it IS a Honda.

It has a locked up left crank bearing. I pulled the motor and split the cases Saturday afternoon. I would have had it down to a bare frame Saturday but we had family here so I couldn't work on it. I have the crank at work hopefully I'll get a chance to check it out tomarrow. It looks good, I'm thinking this will be a very cheap rebuild, new bearing and seal kit is aobut $50, gasket kit $45, piston $?. Then this motor will go into the atc and the 310 motor is going into the trx. I am going to go ahead and take cases to work and glass bead them to get a cleaner look.

Helluva deal there Josh. I'm just surprised to see you getting out of the newer 4 strokes and back to the old pingers. This dang Raptor has spoiled me. Don't think I could go back to an old kick start 2 stroke as my main ride now.

I think a lot of it for me is the building of the machine also. I always enjoyed building up old turds and making them look good. Now that I don't pull wrenches all day everyday it is fun again.

I feel the same way josh does I set behind a desk most of the day now so working on these old bikes is kinda fun. I had a hall pass to get a new 525 outlaw like josh had befor but I always wanted a 250r

I realized this awhile back, wondering what to get for my next machine. Had the 250r fixed it up rode it for awhile and got rid of it. Did the same with the banshee and 400ex.
I like riding the weird different stuff. So here I am back on a pair of 250r's.
