I traded my ATV trailer off a while back for a 1981 Honda 650 custom street bike. The minute I saw the bike, I saw what it could be. I had been bugging the guy that had the bike for about a year to let me chop it for him, but he wasnt into it. So when I finally did get it from him, I went to chopping right away. I cut off and modded the following. Put on a 70's sportster tank, cut off the rear shocks and made struts, dropping the rear end about 6 inches. Took off all turn signals (added small ones back on the front) and changed out the huge brake light. I also moved the pegs forward, made it a suicide shift and made my own seat (my first upholstery job,.. made it with my wifes yoga mat and a pair of leather pants) I took off all crap, light the speedometer and tach, mufflers and those pesky fenders. This thing is freaking loud, but is a blast to ride. Ive offered lots of guys who look at it, but not a single one has taken me up on the offer yet. They all see the suicide shift and hard tail and a few have said they are not man enough to attempt it. Here are the before and current pics. I am going to strip the tank down and airbrush it sometime, and other minor changes as well. Id like to build my own springer front end for it someday to, but I kinda like how it looks right now. And the after pics... huge change! check out that custom seat Im so proud of!

Sweet looking! Aren't you the guy with the BAD BACK? You need some filters.

yeah, and riding a hard tail back in the late 90's for my only means of transportation is probably what gave me the bad back I bought some indiviual filters, but the d**n things dont fit. I made some cheapies out of foam, but they restrict it to much and flood the thing out. I just ride without filters, and when I park it pull the choke to keep out debris. Seems to work so far. Im looking for another cheapie street bike to chop again. I want to do one for the wife, but make a trike so she can ride it without a motorcycle license. If any of you know someone with a good running dirt cheap old bike lemme know.

Micah's wife took a weekend riding coarse that allowed her to get her license in only 1 weekend. Seemed like it only cost a couple hundred and they supplied all the bikes and gave them lessons on how to ride.

my step dad did that up in Garden. It was like a 2 weekend deal and was like 300 I think. He said it was well worth it. The problem is, Heather and I both agree she cant really hold a bike up on her own.

They will teach her how. They ride on small bikes then move to larger ones.
