Early this spring I sent my resume into this local coal fired power plant for a job as a Mechanical Maintenance (mechanic) tech. I forgot all about it. I had been going through the steps to start my own business this fall. Then out of the blue they called my house and told my wife that if I was interested that I needed to be there at a certain time for a test. I was told that 110 peopel sent in there resume for this 1 job. Well I went for the test hardest test of my life. If you passed you would then get an interview. They said it would take 1-2 weeks for them to notify us. I got called the following Monday. At that point I got an interview with them. I went for the hardest interview of my life, me and 4 other people in there at the same time. Asking everything you could think of about integrity, honesty, jobs, etc. After that I got a walk through of the plant and then had to take an oral test as I was walked through the plant, it was also unreal hard. Asking questions about stuff as we walked through, trust me there is some weird stuff inside that place.
This morning I got a call and they offered me the job, finally. I happily accepted. I do have to wait till I get released from the Dr after having hernia surgery last week. The know about the surgery and were willing to wait for the release.
I am so excited about this job. I have wanted to work there forever.
4 day work week Monday-Thursday 7:00- 5:30
Blue Cross Blue Sheild $200 deductable only $25 per month
Better pay by a bunch once I get to SR tech in 3 years.
4 day work week
awesome retirement
no more buying tools they supply them
4 day work week
awesome vacation
lots of holidays - even some made up ones I think
To me this is one of those dream jobs that you here of people having. I hope it is as good as it sounds. I do know for a fact that I will never have to work as hard as I do now, heck they told me that during the interview.
I will now buy a service truck and start working on Fridays on Caterpillar equipment for $80 per hour and that will be a bargain for our customers since they pay way more then that to Caterpillar.
